SPEEDWATCH IS IN URGENT NEED OF MORE VOLUNTEERS!
We have only three people in our team and, unfortunately, are not able to have as much support from the Police as we have had in past years. Our Patrols have not been out on the roads as much as we would have liked during the last six months, partly due to the lack of volunteers and continuously wet weather.
The Police are offering to lend us, for a week at a time, a new portable Vehicle Activated Sign, which lights to indicate the speed of oncoming vehicles. Unfortunately, the VAS casing is so heavy that it makes the use of it impossible for us to lift into cars. We have been in touch with the Glos Road Safety Partnership about this issue, who were glad of the feedback, but have no further suggestions at the moment.
New Patrollers can now be trained by the Co-ordinators of Speedwatch Groups; therefore there is no need for attendance at a Police Training Course at Stow, which is a help.
