Neighbourhood planning was introduced in 2011 as part of the Localism Act. It is intended to allow local communities to guide and shape development in their localities.
Once it is adopted, the Blockley Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) will sit along-side the CDC Local Plan and be used in the assessment of development applications in the Parish. While it is subject to certain limitations - it cannot contradict or undermine the Local Plan and it must be in line with national planning guidance - the NDP will allow us to influence the nature of future local developments.
For further information on neighbourhood planning, see the links below:
This CDC website gives some basic introductory information, and provides information on the status of NDPs currently under development.
This website provides general information on the NDP process and the support that is available from Gloucestershire Rural Community Council (GRCC).
This is the website for Locality. It provides information on the grants and support that are available, and roadmaps for the development of NDPs.
This Government website provides guidance and advice on the NDP system under the National Planning Policy Framework.
In February 2017, the Council submitted the formal designation of the whole Parish as the Neighbourhood Area for the purposes of developing the NDP (see Documents). This was accepted by CDC.
